Reviews
This is a comprehensive and deep reference work that's simultaneously accessible and friendly, and you can learn a lot of useful stuff from it whether you're a beginner or long-time photographer. The book itself is softcover and matte and had some binding problems*, but the print color and tonality were fine and let the excellent examples come through clearly. And those examples are great at visually, clearly, and instantly illustrating everything from depth of field and focal length/perspective to composition and color, to digital editing processes. There's maybe a bit too much focus on Adobe software, but that's a minor issue - most of the material is independent of those particular details. The company's website offers one chapter free as an electronic download, which I reviewed before purchase - it was convincing in its quality and depth. An electronic version is planned, but if you like reading/viewing in real book form, this is worth the price as an excellent tutorial and reference that obviously has a great deal of work, expertise and wisdom behind it, all presented very clearly in both prose and pictures.(*The publisher sent a replacement.)Update: Feb. 10, 2019: I received a new printing from the publisher, and both images and type are brighter now than the earlier 9th editing printing. The latest, nicest printing has an ISBN of 1732636923
